About Me

As a Rugby League supporter, enthusiast and critic I find it is important for me to have and most importantly share my opinions about the NRL code.

My name is Cahn D. Cotter.

2009, what a season the NRL hosted. An unbelievable run to the finals by Parramatta knocking over teams with no mercy.

The Bulldogs, wooden spooners in 2008 and almost minor premiers in 2009. They always seem to have controversy and somehow surrender their 2 competition points.

However in their defence, the St George Illawarra Dragons V Canterbury Bulldogs farcical game, where the video referee disallowed that Jamaal Idris try because Jamie Soward was thought to have been impeded by forward Ben Hannant. Therefore not being able to make the tackle on Luke Patten who made the break, was ridiculous. They were robbed of the 2 points.

Benji Marshall back to his best, and the over rated Trent Barrett performing the same as always with the Sharks. The great late Jack Gibson said it all, "waiting for the sharks to win a premiership is like leaving the back porch light on for Harold Holt to come home".

A Grand Final that went down to the last 5 minutes until a bad referee call by Tony Archer on Fui Fui Moi Moi's tackle on Billy 'the kid' Slater drew a false penalty.

In my mind there is no doubt that Parramatta's momentum in the final 15 minutes would of propelled them forward to score again and win the Grand Final of 2009 season.

2010 is shaping up to be another fantastic season... lets hope it has more to offer fans.

I am a former Rugby League player. I played 10 seasons junior Rugby League and had representative honors also. I was offered to play with the Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks, however injury forced me out of the game early.

Studying Journalism for three years now and having had travel experiences, achieving life goals of visiting World War One Battlefields on the Western Front and living in France for an extended period I came to see that Rugby League writing was for me.

In my first year of Journalism, teachers told me that I could not write for sports as I am too passionate. So, I gave up trying to write sports and started to write hard news, then soft news. But the drive was not there for me to continue with it.

Two more years studying and I now realise that Rugby League writing is my passion and I will not stop until I am noticed as one.

Those teachers who told me that I was too passionate about Rugby League were right. However, when they told me to stop writing because of the passion, they were wrong. It's the passion that makes it exciting, honest and delightful to read.

My writing may be amateur and I am still learning, but I think my style suits a majority of Rugby League fans. I can only hope that they respond to my writings and what I think, a good understanding of Rugby League.

I am in all, passionate and true to the game that is Rugby League. I am your Rugby League writer...
